Description:
This large form of Salvia spathacea comes to us from Rancho Santa Ana Botanical garden. The showy deep maroon-red flowers appear in spring providing a treat for hummingbirds. This selection was made in 1993 by Bert Wilson of Las Pilitas Nursery.Well grown plants tend to bloom again in fall and winter. This salvia is drought tolerant and prefers a situation in full sun, but tolerates garden water well. It is also tolerant of a variety of soils.
