One of the popular Cleveland/Purple Sage crosses, 'Whirly Blue' has an upright habit, gray leaves, and whorls of large lavender-blue flowers in spring and summer. Provide good drainage. We like it with Monkeyflowers, Penstemons, and smaller grasses planted around the base for months of color. All shrubby sages should be pruned back at the end of summer.
