Botanic Name:
Lupinus albifrons
Common Name:
Silver Bush Lupine
Size: 4'h x 4'w
Sun: Sun
H20: Summer dry
Description:
A lovely if unassuming silver-leaved 4' shrub much of the year, Silver Bush Lupine is a showstopper in April and May when its bright purple 1' flower spikes cover the plant. Abundant along Hwy 280 near 92, keep an eye out for it this spring. This tough plant needs full sun, good drainage, and a fairly dry situation to do its best, but will take a little extra water. Combine with plants with similar requirements such as Deer Grass, California Fescue, or Ceanothus.
