Giant Wild Rye
Size: 6'h x 4'w
Sun: Sun-pt. shd

Description:
A large dramatic grass with flowering stalks to as high as 9', Giant Wild Rye takes sun or light shade, and requires occasional water. This grass is large enough to be used as a screen or hedge, and is a beautiful addition to the gray garden or dry border. It grows locally in our coastal scrub and in chaparral as far inland as the Tehachapi Mountains. It can rapidly colonize a large area, which can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your situation. A root barrier fabric like those used to contain bamboo is recommended if you would like only a small patch.
