Botanic Name:
Polystichum munitum
Common Name:
Western Sword Fern
Size: 3'h x 3'w
Sun: Shd-pt. shd

Description:
Found in Redwood and Douglas Fir Forests from Monterey to Del Norte County, the Western Sword is a tough adaptable fern that tolerates a wide range of conditions. Although it reaches its grandest proportions in shady wet spots, it also does well in fairly dry shade inland, or full sun on the coast. Use this 3' to 4' fern as a framework for the shade garden around which to arrange flowering perennials. In a pot, keep its soil from drying out completely..
