Evergreen mounding shrub 3' high and 6' wide. Showy yellow flowers bloom most of the year. Conspicuous inflated seed pods give the plant its common name. Native to desert communities and coastal sage scrub. Heat and drought tolerant, does better with some water. Plant in full sun. Tolerates salt. Likes good drainage but will accept maritime clay to rocky soils. Good for dry hillsides, roadsides, screens. Striking in a mass.
