Description:
A perennial lupine, to about 3' tall this plant bears long stalks of vivid purple flowers in May and June. It grows in light shade to full sun, needs good drainage, and only occasional water. Found in many plant communities throughout California, and in the Coast Ranges from L.A. County to Del Norte County. The Broadleaf Lupine goes dormant in late summer to fall and reappears larger and more vigorous each year with the winter rains.
