A graceful grass of our local hills Nassella lepida is found in sun or light shade, and is as pleasing in a meadow as it is individually. Its nodding seed heads are about 1', with the leaf blades reaching half that height. As with all the needlegrasses, it is drought tolerant. Without summer water it turns a beautiful golden color, or if you prefer it can be kept green with as little as two or three waterings a summer. This plant is also known as Stipa lepida.
