Epilobium canum canum
Common Name:
California Fuchsia
Size: 1'h x 3'w
Sun: sun-pt. shd
H20: occ.H2O/dry
Description:
This charming native from the central and southern California foothills can lend vivid color to your garden in the fall, when few other plants are in flower. It is also an important late summer source of food for hummingbirds, flowering after many nectar sources are long gone. Grows to approximately 1' tall and 3' wide. Attractive needle-like grey-green leaves contrast nicely with the bright red flowers. Plant in full sun, give them occasional summer water. Use in informal gardens, slopes, or an expansive rock garden. Cut back hard in winter for a bushier plant.
