Common Name:
Oregon Ash
Size: 60'h x 40'w
Sun: sun-pt. shd
H20: wet
Description:
This tree is found along streams and rivers from Santa Clara County to British Columbia. Its fast growth and pale green leaves make it a good choice for a shade tree. Tolerant of very heavy, boggy soils, it will even withstand standing water in the winter. Like its common companion the Big-Leaf Maple, however, it needs no water in the dry season. Its leaves turn a clear yellow in the fall before dropping to allow in the winter sun. Reaches 40 to 80 feet tall - expect a taller, more slender tree in the shade and a shorter, broader tree in the sun.
