Botanic Name:
Cirsium occidentale
Common Name:
Cobweb Thistle
Size: 3'h x 1'w
Sun: sun-pt. shd
H20: summer dry
Description:
Unlike the invasive thistles from Russia and Europe, this plant minds its manners. Planted in full sun or light shade, it will reach its mature height of 3' in late spring and then delight the gardener with its crimson flowers until as late as August. It is a Hummingbird favorite. While it occasionally seeds one or two volunteers, plan on it only living a year or two in your garden.
