Botanic Name:
Symphoricarpos albus 'Tilden Park'
Common Name:
Snowberry
Size: 4'h x 4'w
Sun: sun-shd
H20: occ.H2O/dry
Description:
Avid hikers will recognize this deciduous shrub's showy fall and winter berries from late-season hikes along streams and through oak woodlands throughout the Bay Area, where it is abundant. Snowberry will reach about four feet tall, and can spread underground to form a thicket, but is easily controlled. Takes full sun in foggy areas and likes light shade inland. Regular water will give it a lusher look, but it is completely drought tolerant once established, making it great under oaks. Berries may or may not be toxic - none of us are willing to try them.
