Botanic Name:
Datura wrightii
Common Name:
Jimson Weed
Size: 3'h x 4'w
Sun: sun
H20: occ.H2O/dry
Description:
Jimson Weed is native to dry, sunny, barren places throughout the west. Broad felty gray leaves emerge from the ground in winter, forming a mound several feet tall and wide by early summer. Large trumpet shaped flowers of palest violet then emerge, making a stunning show. The foliage then dies back to the ground in fall. This is not a plant for every garden - all parts of the plant contain a powerful narcotic, and it should be placed wisely. Beautiful combined with drought tolerant silver and gray plants like Artemisias and Salvias.
