Monardella villosa x purpurea
Common Name:
Coyote Mint
Size: 2'h x 2'w
Sun: Sun-pt. shd
H20: Occ.H2O/dry
Description:
This cross between two of our native Coyote Mints was discovered in the wild in San Luis Obispo County. It shares the attributes of its parents; nicely scented green foliage, and lovely purple flowers that attract butterflies. It will form a nice mound about 2 by 2 feet and should be pruned a little each winter to keep it compact. Sun to mostly sun is preferred, with decent drainage and not much water. Does well near the coast, and inland. A sprig of foliage adds a nice flavor to tea.
