Botanic Name:
Mimulus longiflorus calycinus
Common Name:
Monkeyflower
Size: 3'h x 3'w
Sun: sun-pt. shd
H20: occ.H2O/dry
Description:
Native to dry slopes in Southern California, this Monkeyflower has large, canary yellow flowers and fuzzy, bright green foliage. Extremely drought tolerant, it will nonetheless look nicer and bloom longer with a little extra water during the dry months. Hummingirds love the flowers. Reaching about 3 by 3 feet, it is a nice plant to combine with native Penstemons, Salvias, and grasses. Cut back hard each winter for a compact plant the next year.
